Mount Lebanon Cemetery
Early land purchasers were benevolent societies, fraternal organizations and synagogues providing burial benefits for their members. Eventually, individual families and family circles purchased land directly from the Cemetery. Today, Mount Lebanon Cemetery is the final resting place for over 240 societies and thousands of individual families. Please follow the link to see a full listing of all societies, organizations and synagogues.
Our first above ground, outdoor Community Mausoleum was constructed in 1982 followed by a smaller garden mausoleum in 1985. Mount Lebanon Cemetery became the first Jewish cemetery in the five boroughs of New York City to construct an indoor, public mausoleum when The Sanctuary was built in 1992.
